How is Singapore home to you? On the Red Dot explores the question through three local filmmakers, Meng Ong, Sanif Olek and Ang Geck Geck. They’ve each been given only four days to shoot and edit a short film. Follow each filmmaker as they struggle with their scripts, audition actors and cope with unexpected challenges on set, to realise their vision of how Singapore is home to them. This three-part series kicks off with Meng Ong, whose debut feature film was the first by a Singaporean to be selected for the Sundance Film Festival in 2001. His short film for On The Red Dot, Sea Breeze, is about a chance meeting between a Filipino domestic worker and a Bangladeshi construction worker in Singapore. The brief encounter reveals a common dream between the two strangers and lays bare their ambivalent relationships with their Singaporean hosts. Sea Breeze features a real life domestic worker in her TV acting debut.
